Midland Eye has reopened to patients

Midland Eye Clinic is delighted to announce that we have resumed clinical services to patients starting Friday 29th May.

The health and safety of our patients has always been central to everything we do and in preparation for our return to normal services, Midland Eye has put in place some new measures to protect the health of our patients and our team and to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Virtual consultations
Patients can now access FREE secure online video or phone consultations with an expert consultant doctor, with appointments available in as little as 24 hours, so they can get the healthcare advice they need, now. Online consultations are available 5 days a week from 8am to 8pm.

Face-to-face appointments are also available for patients who need a consultation in person, any diagnostics and treatment. We are also now taking bookings for surgery. To make an appointment call 0121 711 2020.

Screening
To protect staff, patients and visitors from Covid-19, we have introduced screening for all patients and visitors to our facilities. All patients who are attending an appointment and those who are being admitted as a day patient will undergo screening. Any visitors to our facilities will also be screened before they can enter. This includes all business partners and suppliers.

Hand hygiene
Maintaining good hand hygiene is essential to reduce the transmission of infection in health care settings. Please make sure to use hand sanitiser or hand wash as you enter the clinic. Please also ensure that you practice good hand hygiene while you are in Midland Eye Clinic.

Respiratory hygiene
Patients, staff and visitors are encouraged to minimise potential COVID-19 transmission through good respiratory hygiene measures. Disposable, single-use tissues should be used to cover the nose and mouth when sneezing, coughing or wiping and blowing the nose; used tissues should be disposed of promptly in the nearest waste bin. Please remember to keep your hands away from the eyes, mouth and nose.

Social distancing and Queuing
We are working very hard to maintain social distancing wherever possible. You will notice signage and markings to help with guiding you around our facilities and showing you where to stand and queue. Please help us to help you by following the directions in place. If you are unsure where you should walk or stand, our staff will be happy to help you.

Patients undergoing procedures

  • Any patients undergoing a procedure will have additional risk assessment for Covid-19 and will be tested.
  • Patients will be asked to self-isolate prior to their procedure.
  • Any patient utilising our day care facilities will be socially distanced and we will use screens/privacy curtains between the day beds to minimise opportunities for close contact.
  • There may be times when you are in our clinic when you may be asked to wear a face mask when moving between departments. We will provide you with an appropriate mask.

Hospital cleanliness
Be assured that Midland Eye Clinic is cleaned professionally in line with government guidance to prevent the spread of Covid-19. All patient rooms are thoroughly cleaned each day and between patients.

Visitors
We are restricting all visitors to Midland Eye Clinic apart from essential visitors only.

Patient flow control
We are implementing patient flow controls at all of our facilities to manage occupancy and the flow of people through our hospitals and clinics.

Please read our leaflet: Midland Eye – Coming for Consultations, Intervention and Treatment to learn more about how we are working to keep you safe.

Thank you for choosing Midland Eye Clinic and for following these new health measures which are designed to help us keep you safe.
